Spent just under 5 hours fishing alone at Sand Bar and Eagle Mountain Tuesday the 14th and did well, catching 7 salmon and 1 brown. Most were caught just a bit south of Eagle Mtn. I used riggers since I was alone and wanted to get the most from the two rods. Cheaters scored all the fish about 10 - 12 feet down. Had a black and white w/ red spot Honey Bee on one and a black glitter w/ yellow spots Honey Bee on the other. Ran a copper red head off the ball on one side and a chicken wing Needlefish off the other ball. Lures on the bottom were down about 20 - 25 feet and never fired. Biggest salmon was 23 inches caught over 30 feet of water on the east end of Sand Bar. Fished with clients today (16th) and landed 10 lakers in Plattsburgh Bay. Down and dirty did the trick again. 12 year old Callum caught the largest fish weighing in at around 9 pounds. Also caught a strange looking laker. Very short and fat, shaped like a bass.

Yeah Northwestern, all the lakers went back. I did keep two salmon on the 14th and ate one fillet raw w/ soy sauce. Yum!!! Fresh Lake Champlain salmon beats Koto's sushi any time.

Lake Champlain Angler, You sure know how to put big trout in the boat. Nice lake trout Callum, and that short one is quite a strange catch too. Your people look very happy Mick. The captain strikes again.

Thanks for the report Mickey. It wont be long and I will be venturing over to your side of the lake. Interesting, all tight on cheaters. Almost sounds like a fall program.

Hey Capt - great work. It sure didn't take you long to dial in again!
I think that laker wins the award as the outstanding "football" fish of the year.
Do you notice many fatalities with the lakers or do you have a good release pattern that you use? It might be worth sharing since it sounds like many guys return the lakers to the water!
Thanks.
