We hammered lakers again this weekend and caught some nice big fish as well. On Saturday our charter group with Travis Rixford boated 28 lakers with the largest fish weighing 9 pounds 11 ounces. Sunday was tough with a brisk north wind, but we still managed to catch some dandy fish. We also boated a few more salmon to add to the excitement. As of April 19th we have caught 131 lake trout. All but one have been released. Hopefully most of those will survive to hit another day. We were glad to see the thread on catch and release and very happy to see that most guys are releasing their fish when ever possible. Cheers!

Hi Captain Mick
Happy to hear the lakers are biting. I hope to get my boat in later this week. Waiting for the docks at Point Bay.
I'm getting very few request for charters. Hoping they pick up into May. How is the bad economy affecting your business?
Are you getting the lakers on the bottom?

Congrats on the great numbers your puting up and releasing all those fish to fight another day. Some day maybe we can get a thirty pounder if we all put some back to live another day. It is great to hear about so many people praticing good catch and release. It is the key to a good quality fishery. I believe. Without the lampreys we (the fisherman) are the only predators out there that can cut the populations of game fish down now. So catch and release can play a valuable role in champlain and many other waters where fish have a good chance of growing into a trophy.
