We hosted a Champlain Valley Union High School Junior and his Uncle today on Lake Champlain. The student, Tom, chose to shadow a Charter Captain for his "Grad Challenge" high school project. He didn't stop asking questions all day and between answers he managed to catch a Lake Champlain Trifecta of lake trout, brown trout and Atlantic salmon.
We fished the main lake early and landed a trio of lakers dragging bottom in 60-70 feet of water with horizontal blade trolls. The best of the three was just short of 11 pounds...

After getting blown off the main lake we headed for Malletts Bay and quickly landed two fat browns near the cut on copper and red MooseLook and Honey Bee spoons. Here's the best of those two square tails...

We trolled over to Marble Island but didn't catch anything on that end, so we headed back toward the cut and landed two more browns and two salmon on various spoons. Salmon and browns came over 70-100 feet of water and 15-35 feet down. Great job with the Trifecta Tom. Next time you'll have to let Uncle Allen reel in a few!!

I agree. I'll bet that fish was digging like mad. Beauty of a Brown.

That’s my boy!
Nice looking fish, hail to the Captain!!!!
I heard he showed you how much he dislikes lamprey; nearly put his foot through your deck, stomping on the little critters. Just slap him next time he gets out of hand! And yes, he needs to give the rod to his uncle Alan once in a while!

Nice brown Mick, looks like a big male I took outside the wall a couple weeks ago. Real good colors not all silvered out. The female I got was pretty silver.
