Check this out!!! From the LCI Blog: Patrick Dupont Proudly Displays his 15.9lb Lake Trout Caught during the LCI Father's Day Fishing Derby Patrick Dupont of North Hero, VT shows off his 15.9-pound lake trout, currently the leading contender for the $28,000 Lakeshore Ace Laker after the first day of the three-day event, which draws 5500 people from more than 30 states. Caught while fishing with his brother Benjamin and father, Larry, the fish is potentially worth nearly $40,000 in cash and nearly another $20,000 in prizes, including two Starcraft boats and two Yamaha outboard engines in the 28th Annual LCI Father’s Day Derby presented by Yamaha. The fish was weighed in by LCI volunteer and USFWS biologist Dr. Bradley Young, captain of the Shelburne Shipyard weigh station on Lake Champlain in Vermont.

It looks like the kid has got to do a little better now. There was just a salmon weighed in in Plattsburgh that tipped the scales at 9.41 pounds and bumped this lake trout down in the cold water category

That is totally awesome, I saw the weight on that salmon too, amazing. Kudos to these guys. I'm sure their arms are sore in a good way. Fish like this are why I go back time and time again.

Two outstanding fish. That is a big male Laker!
The kid may been bumped but he will get the $28,000 in cash for the lake trout derby record if it stands in addition to other prizes. Salmon may be worth more points for the coldwater but that $28K cash is worth a hell of a lot more than prizes.
Great job and hope he stays on top of the laker record.

Wow thats a slab of a laker, looks almost as big as him. Can't wait to see a pic of that big salmon, wow that would be exciting, wouldn't want to be holding the net on that one, way too much pressure. Looking forward to hearing everyone's reports from the tourney.

That's a monster laker alright. I've looked for a posted pic of the 9.41 salmon and can't find one right now. I'm sure one will pop up soon.

I know this young man, congrats to him! We just returned from a week up there in his parents rental. Jaws---you should invite him to join this forum. Let him know we're here year round. If he likes fishing, I bet he'd enjoy this place. I don't think we have any youngsters aboard.
