Had a great time out on the lake today with Pennsylvanians Mark and Laurie along with their four children Rachel, Alex, Nathan and Aaron. We boated 14 lake trout over 6 hours up to nearly 8 pounds. Several were over 5 pounds, but we're starting to catch the smaller juvenile fish that we typically see this time of year. Also brought one medium sized trout in that had a lamprey attached to it. Caught all our fish dragging bottom in 70' of water with horizontal trolls. Water temp was 66 on the surface and trolling speed was 2 mph.

Here's a cute shot of the good looking boys with a nice seven pound laker brought in by Nathan...

Always fun taking out the kids. we were seeing a lot of those small juvenile lakers also last weekend. Lots of knock offs from them. Do you have lots of knock offs this time of year from the small lakers?

Ben,

I use Off Shore or Cannon pinch releases and like them. I don't get knock offs very often but I do catch small fish that don't release or need a slight pull to come off the rigger. Mostly happens when they are under two pounds. I don't use stickbaits or spoons as the trailing lure. My hook is a single 1/0 treble.
