Thinking of buying a new rig without factory pre-rig or motor and rig it myself so I can get what I want, and not what Brunswick or some dealer is pushing. Like what I have read and heard about the Evinrude E TEC, but I have never owned one or been around one. Anyone here own one? What's your opinion of it? One of my major concerns is how loud it will be compared to other makes and 4 strokes. Lot of Mercs running around down here and their loud enough to wake the dead...want something as quiet as possible.

Newhaven Bill, Bill Snell at Tourtorelle Restaurant 453-6309 has Champ Chaser's boat with a 150 e-tec and after riding on that this winter Crabman Dave Werle at Lightning Photo 388-4404 traded in his 90 for a 90 e-tec. Give e'm a call.
Both came from Fox Marine and I would say superb service and fair pricing. Randy
I know I would buy one if in need.

I have an older E-rude 150 HP that had the ficth ignition system(2000 model),,,I have ridden in Champchaser with bill and the e-tec is a whole nother animal.Extremely quiet and smooth and no smoke,,,It is a 2-stroke by the way. I would buy one,,,we trolled with that 150 HP all day and it is quieter than my 4-stroke 9.9 Merc. an unbeleivable engine, for sure. I would check on a Bass forum though,,those guys have many more of them and run them hard,,,a bass guy would have heard more than us trollers would have

Well, so much for my plans to buy and self rig a new boat. Took a trip to Maine yesterday and came back with a nice used 2005 20' Lund Alaskan. It has a Honda 4 stroke, hope I dont end up regretting it.

Congrats. Good combo, nothing wrong with a Honda fourstroke. Never heard a bad thing about them other then the big ones (200hp up) are heavy. Only reason don't see more on bass boats.
