Ive read your posts on fishing with Eastmans. In the past i fished out of Plymouth ma. Captn Johns . They were a good outfit but it seems like eastmans is much closer in NH. When i was going back in the 1990s the Cod were small, far and few in between. Haddock was non existant. Mackrel were a pain in the ass. I dont mind party boat fishing being affordable. Anyone have any insight when is a good time of year to fish for cod and other tasty fsh and bottom boucing ? Is this outfit a good company to deal with ? Also anyone else going in the near future? I used to go a week or 2 before memorial day . Most of thhe boats i went on had cut bait included and pole rentals. I see that they offer rod rentals but how about bait?

I went with Eastmans a couple of years ago and their rental rods were crap. small reels with barely enough line to reach bottom in 300 feet of water. Bring your own. Other then that we caught fish but not a lot. seems the being at the right place on the boat is the key. Also use braid if you can.

Thanks for your info. The brochures and info came in today. I,ve always went out of Mass. back in the late 1980s early 1990s and the cod were few and very small. Seems like the cod fishery has started coming back with good sizes being caught. Where woud you reccomend fishing from on the boat? It seems like its only about 4 hours from St.Albans . I was going to go to Maine off the Bunny Clark but from what ive heard and seen in pictures they pack you in like sardines!

You have to go on a limited load offshore trip for the elbo room. Bunny Clark has the best boat tackle out there for pary boats. November & December are pollock fishing months btw. Your best spring fishing is from April 15 to May 15th on Stellwagon bank or souther jeffries for haddock & cod. Take a head boat out of Gloceter during the week, or a six pack charter. Take a look at the fishing reports on noreast.com of last year. 6 of us split 160 keepers on this trip:

Nice fish! My plan is to get my group to go just after May 14th. One of the group has college until then. Definetly want to go during the week. I want to do a Marathon trip. The cod look alot bigger than the late 80's to early 1990s! They were small and not alot of fish back then. Looks like they are rebounding.

we are going in april some time around the 20th on Yellow Bird out of NH I have been on it a couple times nice smaller party boat but it is very loud i bring ear plugs. going there because i have a free pass. there is a motel across the road from it and you can walk to the boat. Usually the best spot is at the back of the boat and on the corner if you cast. we go 3-4 times a year or more and have been on about every boat from to wells. We have our own gear which is very important, makes a big difference. I think late may to early june is best for cod. October can be good too. I would say the overnight trips out of are my favorite. you load in the afternoon and come back the next evening, easier to do the driving that way.

Thanks for the info! How small is that boat? Earplugs-Loud? I usually make the most of it on a party boat but i do go during the week. Less people . Weekends i dont go. To many people and they do like to fill the boats. I havent been in a long while -over 20 years. Capt Johns out of Mass. Had plenty of good trips but the cod were the size of our bullheads back then. It was a good time though. Took my dad, oldest son who was very young, couple of buddies. Last time i drove about 7 hours to get to Plymoth,Masss and it was to rough. They didnt go out! I took my dad, buddies ,brother and myself and went to the dog track instead. Made enough to feed about 7 of us at a nice resturant. Had a good time and visited my parents down in Mass. I have a nice penn rod and a Penn 209M level wind that i was thinking of bringing but i,m going to use thier rods. Any problems and its on thier back.

I have been fishing aboard the Bunny Clark www.bunnyclark.com/with Captain Tim Tower since 1985. The boat, the gear, and the crew are top notch. I have always come home with more fish then I expected. I would recommend the marathon trips. 12 hours on the water and a maximum of 18 anglers. The boat can take 30 people. So at 18 there is plenty of room. I like to fish the pulpit, or the stern. I like to go the first part of June or the first part of October. Capt. Tony www.anbradoncharters.com

this boat is loud especially at the back not bad for a little while but over an hour and it gives me a headache. the boat is not really small, 25-30 people it is a tall party boat like eastmans etc just smaller www.yellowbirdfishing.com I dont think your reel is big enough anyway. we have red Penn 4/0 113H high speed reels and white penn slammer pool cue type rods. We spool them with 50 lb mono backing then 300+yds 50-65lb power pro braid then 12 feet or so 50 lb mono leader. you can get the leader from the boat. These are my favorite trips www.yankeefishing.com/boston- /deep-sea-fishing-overnight-trip.php last one i was on there were only 14-16 people on it and we slayed them. The Bunny is pretty hardcore they have the best boat rods by far. the boat is small and can really rock and roll prepare to get wet, wear rubber boots. They sure know where the fish are, Tim is always looking for trophies and will leave fish to find fish. All boats give you give you bait, clams and some times cut herring or shrimp. I switch between jig and bait depending on what is coming over the rail for fish.
