I'm moving over here, not pleased that overreaction on the part of a moderator caused a member to be booted and not only that, I've posted asking for advice and get ignored. I just got into a boat last year and have on occasion asked advice and most members on that forum tend to ignore unless you've got a boat fully equipped to troll (which I don't) and have been doing what they do for years (which I have not), so to get snubbed just because I'm new to boat fishing LC doesn't mean I'm a newbie to be ignored all together. That moderator should not have gone off and banned someone just because he doesn't agree with someone that is a writer of fishing reports etc... and the two parties should have addressed any outstanding issues in a PM or face to face, which seems to be lacking these days...people are too quick to judge and run off with half info and conclude they know what's best without getting the entire story form all sides... Mudchuck, Glad you are back. I will try not to criticize the OTHER site because I'm sure there are some fine fishermen there! Just too bad that we fellows with small boats don't fit in with the big lake crowd? If you do need any extra gear to fit your boat please let me know I have lots of redundant gear for Inland Sea trolling. Dick

Mudchuck, I'm interested in getting this site perked up as well. Are you going to be primarily going for cold water or warm water fishing? I tend to go multispecies and generally more interested in going after the hot bite rather than grinding for just one style. I would be interested in seeing more warm/cool water postings and it would be interesting to see this board become a more "general fishing Champlain" board. I think there might be a lot more to be gained by sharing tactics, technique and terrain rather than by worrying about specific spots. I know for myself, I don't experiment enough with dropshotting or crank baits nearly as much as I should during the summer so hearing that people are hitting smallmouth on 25-30' drops might encourage me to concentrate on that more. I also don't concentrate on Salmon nearly as much in the summer months so I won't have much to offer there. I will be doing my best to help out though and offer any advice that I can.

Bootstrap, I'm hoping for the same. I only make it over to Champlain every couple of weeks but I'll be doing my best to post when I can. I would love to hear more of how things are shaping up over there during the week to get my "fishing fix!"

That said, I'm also equipping in small increments for trolling, have my GPS/chartplot fish finder now, and bought a nice Okuma trolling rig, some spoons, dipsy & jets. Once I get thru transom & carb rebuild/replace, I'll focus on downriggers/slide diver mast etc... I'm the type that just likes to fish and don't really target any species specifically. I do like panfishing (more so thru the ice) and sometimes throwing lures at bass, not really into pike. Just started chasing walleyes and have figured out some of the worm harness stuff with limited success. My past life I was all saltwater on the DelMarVa Pennisula and fished surf up & down DE, MD & VA and both Chesapeake & Delaware bays extensively, never focused on freshwater at all the 18 years I lived there after my stint in the Navy as a kid. Chased stripers, blues, sea trout, croakers mostly from shore/canoe/small tinny but did venture out on deep water for some shark & tuna or the occasional marlin tourney on friends boats that were equipped for that type of fishing. Fishing LC is relatively new to me for about 11 of the 17 years I've lived up here.

One plus side with Champlain for you it that there are plenty of options on where to launch and how to play the weather. The GPS will probably be your best friend as you start to build up waypoints of where you connected with fish in the past. Don't discount Pike though if you're not fishing for food! I still think catching a gator can be every bit as exciting as salmon if you get blown off the big water but still want to fish! Just watch out for the pointy parts.

Have to get them back onto Champlain! I agree , IceShanty is really active because of the time of the year. Looking forward to a whole week at Grand Isle. Hope I get some good photos to post? Dick
