Monday morning Gill's Place called and said the crazy Ivan was back in running order. So i went and picked it up and headed to the Converse Bay launch to see if it would run. On the water by 3pm and off by 6pm. Set up in Whalen's Bay and trolled for salmon in the bay and out around the corner to the south.
Did not mark many fish and no bait other than on the hump south of the light house. Caught the largest Yellow Perch i have ever seen on a brass and orange mp6 Honey Bee 45ft down 25ft back over 225 ft of water. Called it an afternoon and headed off the water. Great to be back on the lake.
Salmon Eye saw me on the way out and flagged me down, great to finally meet him in person.
Took my dad and uncle out Tuesday am, on the water by 8am. Fished Thompson's point to picket. Caught 10 or so small salmon from 8" TO 10" and one 20" Laker. Fished in close and out in the deep water. Most all the fish came in close to the shore off Thompson's. Off the water by 1pm.
These are the lures that worked today, but i didn't try anything else, kind of felt like those little salmon would have bitten on anything down there. We used attractors today on one rigger and it produced more salmon than the riggers without attractors.
Fish caught were 50-60 down on the riggers and two cheaters at 40.
The last time out for us was the Saturday of the derby and we put up some great numbers on that day, we had two salmon over 5lb but under 21"s. This next lure was the big producer on that day. It was the only lure that did not catch any of the 30 or so stockies it is now one of my favorites. Got to love the mp6.
looking forward to see you all out on the lake.
