It's been a month since I have fished the lake. 3 months since our last forum outing with Lazy C's and Don on the Digitroll.
Well today the long awaited trip on the spotless and beautiful 28 ft Wellcraft "ShayeDwinds"! Mike and I had been anticipating this since the Winter workshops and now the day had came to fish on her.
We decided to fish the broad lake since the waves and wind was not bad as we left Mallett's Bay at 8:15 am. We had a little bit of everything from wind direction switches, to rain for 30 minutes, along with everything else including sun and clouds today.
Don's new Raymarine sonar and GPS was incredible! I couldn't keep my eyes off it. It looked like my 17" desk top computer screen in a split view. The new Fish Hawk X-5 temp. probe was amazing too!
The fish were coming around 50 feet down where the temp. break was. We had a real hard time hanging on to them today going 2 for 7. Mike lost a real beauty as it looked to be at least a 5 lb fish when it went airborne and spit the lure. Moments later I boated a very nice fish as we worked a pod of bait with some big marks around it.
We ran a 6 rod program today and there were no real stand out lures to report as we did try a lot of the Tamiron custom taped lures from last winter's 3 workshops.
Lots of great company and stories from Lake Ontario to stories back in the 80's when we fished here. Don was a great host and his boat was incredible to fish from. Mike and Don really know their stuff as I mostly watched and ate food today as two master's tried there best to outwit the silvers.
It was a great day to be on the water and also back to reporting here to everyone.
End result!
Thorny didn't mention this!
Ok, I give up.
Theyr'e over there!
