Its pretty typical of us humans we find something good and we overuse the hell out of it ie. bass fishing tournies weve discoverd how good the bass fishing is now lets just fish the heck out of it until someone else decides that it needs to be regulated then well complain and bitch about that!outdoors people should get together and do whats right for the fisherie before its done for us !! we probaly wont like what others decide for us .Just my 2 cent.Sleeps

Question- Last summer while fishing bass north of Plattsburgh one of the large tourneys was going on FLW or Bass. South wind picks up in the afternoon and the lake starts getting rough-2-3 ft waves maybe more. The pro bassers start returning to P'burg for weigh-in. We watch as the bass boats are full throttled headed into the waves. The result was these boats coming completely out of the water at times. Can bass stay alive in a live well while they take this type of sloshing around and pounding? Seems that it can't be good for them.

Hope you don't mind if I use the launches. Big Ben I don't care who uses the launches. I was correcting the assertion that the bass clubs fought the moratorium "Kicking and screaming all the way". That just wasn't the case.

I would like to know what the procedure is after the weigh in. How long are those bass being held in a holding tank and who decides which fish is suited for release. I know, as a local bass fisherman I don't like to see all those dead fish floating around.

I got out Saturday and came across a lot of dead fish, mostly bass. Mostly in the 2 1/2 to 3 lb range I'd estimate. Also a few pike and one big ass cat fish. Are fish kills from tournaments, disease (see picture) or the wacky weather? Two weeks ago the water temp in this area was 80. Saturday started at 72 at 10 am and warmed to 75. A 5-8 degree drop is a pretty big drop in two weeks. I mentioned in my report a couple weeks ago seeing strange marks on the bass though they were still health/aggressive as was the one pictured here. Is something else going on besides the pressure? The tournament pressure surely doesn't help but I don't think it is the only factor this year. This almost looks like a lamprey mark doesn't it? I'll let those of you that have seen them comment on that. I'm not sure I've ever seen one live.

It surely looks like a lampreye hit to me!!Maybe if more bass fisherman and tournement organizers and whatever are made aware of this dieoff problem they can make progress and change some things around. I think more than likely there will always be some dead fish this time of year! So lets see some people step up to the plate and do the rite things to make it better! Dont think for a second that none sportsman seperate cold water species from warm water this problem effects us all!Sleeps

You should of seen the one I caught last week off the dock. 1 side was covered with red marks, the other side had a large gash across it, looks like it had a fight with a boat prop and got torn up. But as you say about that one, the one I caught hit that lure and had plenty of life in it. All the ones floating around my place are clean though, not a mark on them.

Tony www.anbradoncharters.comTony, I was there, and several others that out of respect for their privacy I wont mention names. I will say that their was 1 and only 1 tournie/bass club person there, and I dont know if he post's here or not. Bill, with all due respect I will stick to my original statement. I base this on the discussions at that meeting, the eventual involvement of DU and some others, and the amount of years it took to resolve.

I wasnt going to mention this, but what the heck, lord hates a coward. Does anyone else besides me think that the latest fishing reports that mention the small sizes and poor fishing is a symptom of what I am talking about?
