Write your state representatives and senators......let them know you are opposed to this legislation; and that you are following it closely!!

I love the back door attempt at registering firearms thats in here. That must have been added by someone from our new branch of government, the VT Law School.

Bill, good news. Hope it comes true. Everyone should get a friend involved and send objections to our local representatives in the house and senate. it could be the silent majority might make a difference if we speak up. Too often laws get made without the awareness and input of the public.
What we need in this state is a referendum like Maine has to vote statewide to override bad laws if they get in.

We feel for you guys in NY; Sundown. You along with Massachusetts and California have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. What the liberals ignore is the fact that areas of those same states happen to have some of the highest crime rates in the country to go along with those gun laws. While states like Vermont and Texas generally have lower crime rates and have much looser gun laws. I notice a pattern here that apparently many in government can't make!

Sundown. The New York gun bill you posted looks like it originated in about 1932 in Stalin's Communist Russia. In part using a list of armed citizens that were compelled to registered , Stalin arranged the execution of about 45,000 Army Officers and sent 10 million people he feared to the Siberian gulag to die. this is no joke. there simply is no useful reason for the fumbling ,unreliable government to have a list of gun owners. No criminal will be on that list. And the chance that the list will be misused is great. MikeP

After talking with my Senator today, he told me there is no way H.83 will go anywhere. It will never get out of the Judiciary Committee... Not that I agree with the fact that Vermont gave up being an independent Republic and joined The United States, but one thing they did learn from was to make the wording of the State Constitution more plain than the COTUS: "Article 16th. Right to bear arms; standing armies; military power subordinate to civil That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and the State - and as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power." www.usconstitution.net/vtconst.html#Article16Also see State v. Rosenthal, 1903: www.guncite.com/court/state/55a610.html

I've been having a running battle with Waite-Simpson on this bill and have been accused of being rude, ignorant and uncivil....well, at least she was listening then! LOL.
she said she co-wrote the bill becauise of a friend's child committing suicide, teh guns should be locked up. I said my kids aint suicidal and if hers were then deal with your own problems, stay outta mine, she then sent me accident reports on a kid in Georgia shooting his friend cleaning a gun and a kid in vermont shot a brother did know gun was loaded.
i said that is parent neglect and unsafe gun handling, she should be taking kids away from parents that dont raise them right, not group slapping gun owners because of two morons dont teach or watch their kids.
she now says its not a GUN ISSUE but a safety issue, to which I said anyone tells me how I can live my life and how ewe have to behave and keep our personal property in OUR OWN HOMES next year that same person will be saying there are too many heart attacks in Vermont and we can't eat red meat in our own junk , then the year after that that same fascist will be telling us which God we can pray to in our own living rooms.
It aint about the seatbelt, it aint about the cigarette, it aint about the gun and where it is kept, its about FREEDOMS and my Right to live my life in my own way.
This aint going away until you all start screaming at these pricks to stay out of our lives. They were elected by US to represent us, not live our lives for us, they weren't chosen by God to be in control of us because they know better than we do.
We were fishing on sadawaga the other day and three guys all in their 20s were saying not only did they think the Government SHOULD decide who can and can't own guns but its the BEST thing since the Government KNOWS BEST, it was right for them to be in charge of who can and can't do this or that.
I am sad where this great Country is going.

Simongerty,I think you have it right, bad part is the liberals have control of the schools and are teaching this crap to the kids early in their lives,,now they want state run pre-school so they can brainwash them at an even younger age
