Heres a picture of a male coyote we called in and Ashley shot, 210 yards with a .243 dropped him in his tracks.

That is a great photo.
I have not yet started the transition from fish to hunting. It will be a couple of more weeks before I start shooting.

Yes the season is if you can safely shoot it then it's in season, 24-7, 365 day or night, no artifical lights and bait is welcome!
I wish the light thing would change to allow for some spotting for coyotes...
Was this coyote shot this week? IF you guys are out now, your my hero!
Too many bugs for me to handle. Not as many bugs on the water!

Nice one down for sure. Im always afraid im gonna get the mange from touching those things. It pisses me off NY closes a season for these beasts. At my folks they are so bad I am waiting for them to attack me in the early am walking to my stands. Had them on more than one occasion circle my stand sniffin below. Last season, I let a huge doe lay I shot last day archery that was got by the dogs. Last summer 2 big males attacked my buddies male lab within 100yards of their deck that they were bbq'ing on at dark. He dropped them both (males) in order to save his dog. With as many attacks on people in NY urban areas, it still surprises me they have a closed season on these varmints.

Sundown,
what is the reason NY closes coyote season. i don't hunt them but when my black and tan would hunt rabbits she would run up a coyote once and awhile in Plainfield. Once she trapped one in a brush pile and i put the 12 Gage semi auto two inches from its head expecting it to leap out and bite...but it just layed there and looked me straight in the eye , big yellow eyes....and did not snarl or growl or anything. Almost like it knew it was going to die. I couldn't shoot. I backed off the black and tan and the coyote took off with my dog hot on its heels...it wasn't long before the coyote turned on my dog and she came running back to me for safety. Wish I had a camera that day.
Crappie, what grain bullet do you use in your 243 for dogs.

Mike In NY Coyote's are classified as a furbearer and have a hunting and/or trapping season. www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/45559.htmlTo have a open season they would have to be classified as a varmit Steve..................aka...Sundown
