With some reports of surprising lack of good conduct it may be time to bring attention to some courtesy that would be nice to see. All can add to this but I thought instead of complaints lets talk of what we would like to see and educate those that are new to the sport or sometimes in too much of a hurry. I'll start with some of the standard stuff. When getting to the launch get your boat ready away from the ramp. Wait your turn. (If the guy in front of you can use help it may make it go faster and you may find a new friend) Park your car and trailer where designated and pay attention to other cars. Be careful. On the water give room to other boats. Pay attention to others with boards out and don't run your boards so far out in high traffic areas. Someone caught a fish. Don't crowd them. The lake is big. There is plenty of water out there for everyone When the end of the day is coming plan enough time so you need not come into the launch on plane and race ahead of other boats. Wait your turn. Have fun. Be safe. Play nice. Add to the list as you see fit. A little courtesy can go a long way. Don

Be aware of your wake, use some common sense and extend to others a little courtesy. Just because that 12' aluminum boat is not in a official no wake zone doesnt mean they deserve to be swamped.

I was out saturday, not paying attention and I heard about it! I accepted the blame for not paying attention. Pay attention, especially in a crowed area!

Good thread to start Don. I was thinking about starting after Thursday and Friday up at the Sea.
Please, Please if running boards in traffic don't put them out 150 feet out each side and drive thru the main lane everyone is fishing. By putting them out 30-40 feet out in traffic makes the blood pressure a lot better for the fleet trying to fish the same areas.
You can catch as many fish out 30 to 40 feet rather than 150 feet using every inch of the spool of tow line.
Thanks!

Don, Thanks for posting this! Another thing I would like to add as we're seeing a lot more early season fishermen and women, is to please dont run your boat at fast speeds in the shallows to get to where you might be seeing other fishermen trolling. The bait are oftentimes moving into the shallows as the water is often warmer there and the fish are moving in to feed on them. Running thru or into the shallows at faster than trolling speeds only takes away from a troller's "stealth mode" in those waters.

there was a guy trolling by me saturday and he was,nt looking, there was a big tree floating off eagle mountain right in front of him so I gently yelled and got his attention just in time to avoid disaster,, the boats with the boards 100ft out on both sides can cause some trouble especially when they try to fit in between other boats, if we all could look ahead and try to anticipate whats going to happen along with some communication(other than the finger) we could find fishing more enjoyable, Reggie

Hello Don
Great thread what a nice way to handle it rather than everyone being real negative.
Please just be curtious to all, everyone is on the water to try and have a good time.
Thanks Phil B

Reggie I saw that tree, thought about trying to get a board inside it but didn't. It was very busy in that area Sat. Some boats need to be a little less aggressive. Some very good points.

Don, nice try for education of what should be common behavior. But its remedial as you well know. anybody who violates the behaviors you listed needs to be held accountable for bad behavior. that is , its fair to assume the adult intentionally acting like this has been told a thousand times in school, in life, at work, to respect others and it does no good. So, I prefer maybe tar and feathers for those types or maybe running the gauntlet.

MikeP Mike P, I agree with you 100 % Unfortunately when I have had any issues on the water it is 9 times out of 10 with fisherman to the north. I am certainly not trying to single out those folks. But as I said in my personal experience it seems the fisherman from the north have a different etiquette then we do down here in the USA. There have been times where i have also run into the other 1% of fisherman from the us behaving in an inappropriate way. I also believe there are some that think the same of me. My point is you are right in saying this subject is remedial and all people who act inappropriate should be called upon the carpet. It may seem to be a tough education. Such is life. Capt. Hi everyone,
I'm new to the site and this topic is great. I'm not a troller, but more of a anchor fisherman. I tend to stay away from other boats, but I must have a sign on my boat that says "Bass over here". All year long, bass fisherman seem to think I'm on the best bass hole in the lake. When there are bass EVERYWHERE!! I could never understand why a boat with a 200HP motor has to come crowd me in my 14'. Beats me
GREAT SITE!!
