I have never fished lake ontario, i am planning to take my boat up there this fall, any advise would be appreciated. starting with when is the best time to go up, would like to target kings, browns and steelhead. since i do not want to go out 20 miles, i figured the fall and spring time is when will attempt to fish there. also i heard green is the killer color during the summer is it the same for the rest of the year. any help would be appreciated.

Capt. Dave
Hello, how are the fleas doing around the Oswego Pulaski area. Still thick or thinning out by now.

If you want a mixed bag like you stated July is the time to be in the area. Steelhead, lae trout, Brown Trout, Kings all the species are here and eating. If you primarily want King's and Coho's then I would suggest the last 2 weeks in August or the first 2 weeks in September. The Spring is awesome for Primarily Brown Trout close too shore. 4-20 fow that time of year is always good. On occasion we get a few kings in the spring but mainly they start showing up good by July 4th. I am on the water everyday from the third week in june till the 20th ish of September. I get a pretty good idea of whats out there. But i do get a cancellation or 2 like today. It's been as good as you want all season. Take your pick what you wanna catch. I just play the wind and catch whatever we want that day but I mainly target Brown Trout due too the Size of the Brown's and Request. Tight Lines

Hi Mike and Chris. Wow, What a Salmon Season. Just starting to whine down from all the fishing and then catching up with work around the house. Tons and tons of salmon, the fleas were not bad at all the end of july-sept. the weather on the other hand was wild. The Huricane finally came thru Sept. 8-9 and really hurt the fishing in the lake. That's when The salmon started running the river in huge #s and the lake started to slow. Still caught fish but had to work for them. Hey Chris, ask my brothers how they did on August 13 an 14. They got sick on 2 footers, LOL.. But, they caught lots of fish. Scott landed a 30 plus pounder each day. The afternoons were very good also. on 1, 6 hour trip in the afternoon, we went 23 for 28 on salmon, crazy... Sorry I couldn't get back to you in time. Capt. Dave These are "The Good Ole Days"
