Darn, thought you had it all fixed up and running good. Nothing worse than a boat you cant trust, hope this new motor works out for you.

Now you're going to have to take another picture of your boat for your profile picture!
Good Luck Frank.
I'm sure you'll be happy with your new Merc!

Frank, I have a 2005 115 optimax bought new in 2007 with a five year warranty and it has smart tac computer operated gages montoring an incredible number of engine functions including troll control. Flawless operation of those features. So far the engine has 1100 hours on it, mostly trolling at 2.5 miles per hour. I would say 90 percent of the hours are trolling hours. A heat sensor failed once. This year the compressor failed while on Ontario but I did not get stranded since it will run without the compressor working properly. The replacment part is about 1,000 installed. Both items were covered by Mercury at no charge and no hassle fixed by Gilles in Barre. The compressor vital to fuel injected engines has a reputation for failure, but the design was changed in about 2009 I believe and the new design is reliable. Thats the one thing I would check out to insure you know which compressor design you have.
I have a heavy fiberglass boat and the engine trolls at 3.3/10ths of a gallon per hour. Often with lengthy runs I will average 4.4/10ths per hour. Yours should do better. Since you have a kicker , based on my experience I doubt you will ever have breakdown if you keep the motor till the cows come home.
Fish on.
Frank, does this new forum system have spell check??
