Sam Smith of South Hero landed this 10.2# 31 inch Salmon this weekend. Sam is no stranger to fishing. I grew up fishing with his dad. I also was taught how to Salmon fish from Sam's Grandfather many, many years ago. The Smith family can catch Salmon. Way to go Sam!! Capt. Tony www.anbradoncharters.com

looks like a King,,good for him! No Frank, not a king. LOL!! But This Champlain Atlantic landlocked is colored up. Sam took the fish on a Champlain tributary, on I believe a Governor Aiken Streamer fly. Amazing these land locks color up so much as the Kings on lake O. The tribs from, the reports I heard are chocked full of fish. Maybe that is why it is very difficult to catch one trolling the lake in September? Maybe there will be a quick run and back to the lake for a early frostbite season? Time will tell. Nice to see fish like that coming out of Champlain. Even Better to see a young angler catch it. Nice fish. 55 salmon were counted at the Winooski fish lift this week. Considering last year was a bad year at 44 total for the season after two banner years, you can only guess where I'll be fishing the next couple of months.

Yes, it has been a great year from the reports I hear. The discharge brook at the hatchery has loads of Salmon you could just about walk across . Most fish are in the lake stacked right up and run up the brook. No fishing allowed in the brook, but Champlain is ok. Also Peterson dam area has them stacked like cord wood as well, as the Sandbar bridge. The Walleye should be getting ready to start moving through the Sandbar bridge area in the coming weeks. All and all a fantastic year. Capt. Tony www.anbradoncharters.com

Why would anyone try to harrass these poor fish at the hatchery brook. I think fishin the brook is illegal and fishing the lake in front is at best unethical. These fish congregate here and are exposed to snaggers and other people who take mature fish who are trying to spawn from the lake. (like in the pic above)
There is nothing to be proud of here... I can't believe someone who is supposed to be a charter capt is posting something like this.... Not sporting at all....
Nothing changes... [/quote]
It's a put and take fishery, so big deal the kid caught a salmon from a trib, if it was anyone but Tony that posted this you wouldn't care. If VT F&W was concerned about it the season would be closed. You probably do more damage dragging shakers behind your ball than this kid will ever do. Save your outrage for the hoards catching bass off their spawning beds. Sad that this board has become nothing but a place for some to get their digs into people they don't like. Good bye and good riddens.

The fish was NOT caught at the hatchery brook, as far as I am told. It WAS caught in a major Champlain Tributary. As far as hatchery brook. I posted you cannot fish in the brook itself. I posted the thread because it shows how far Lake Champlain has come in regards to getting the cold water fishery back on track. It also shows there is no boat, hitec gear or even a Charter Captain for that matter needed for folks to be able to land such great fish. Weather from a boat, or from shore, trolling or casting, spoons or flies, get off the couch and GO FISH!!! Captain Tony www.anbradoncharters.com
