When I was a kid I used to camp with my grandparents every summer at Ann's Cottages. I belive they are called Sportsmans now. I would like to take my children up there and would like to know if the fishing is like it used to be. I remember the eels where a big problem at the time, but we still would catch some fish. Is this still the case? I have a 26 ft century and would like to do some salmon and walleye fishing. Thanks for the help!

Hey James,
My family spent years at Sweeney's and Ann's when I was growing up. My dad spent 30 + years there. The lower part of the Lake has really been taken over by Eurasian Milfoil. The Walleye fisihing has really dropped off, but when you find them there are some nice fish to be had. Recently half or more of the Walleyes weighed in for the LCI tournament have come from that part of the Lake. My dad bought a house and moved up near Plattsburgh on the NY side, but we have done really well on both Salmon and Lakers on the VT and NY sides north of the bridge. We've taken more Salmon running along the railroad tracks on the NY side (the white rocks) up towards Westport, and Lakers from the DAR State Park up towards Potash Bay. Side note: as a result of the weed infestation, there is a really nice Pike fishery growing in the southern part of the Lake. Sea Lampreys have affected a number of species, but hopefully you'll have some good luck. We've taken a ton of fish on Jr. Thundersticks and Needlefish sppons. Good luck.
