Finally it all pays off! After a bout of hard luck I finally got a nice mature doe with my new acs longbow. She came in at 20 yards and stood broadside for a double lung shot, what an awesome feeling making a great shot for a quick clean kill. She weighed in at 144lbs! Now I think I'll focus my attention on a buck since there is meat in the freezer! I used a sonic pro 125 gr head ( my first time using them) and I must say they do what they claim, Field point accuracy, I would recommend checking them out. As for the bow, its awesome, if your a traditional archer and are in the market for a new bow definitely check them out at www.acsbows.com. Good luck all!

Thanks! Not many people still hunt with traditional equipment, I didn't when I first started bow hunting, but I missed enough deer with a compound that I needed a better excuse when it happened! Now I can blame it on the fact that I don't have any sights! Its not as hard as one might think to become good enough to hunt with a longbow, the only draw back I find with it is that your affective yardage is reduced to not much more than 25 yards. I had a nice 6 point come in on the first Sunday of the season but he stayed out at about 40 yards and I didn't want to risk the shot, but thats all part of the challenge.

Way to get it done Longbow.
Did you ever hear of Tred Barta? "The hard way the Barta way! His show is on Versus on Friday nights. He only uses a long bow with wooden arrows that he makes. Many of his hunts do not result in kills for obvious reasons. He says a lot of the hunting shows don't show the hard work that goes into hunting especially with a long bow. He doesn't hunt much on game preserves or closed hunting farms and usually hunts on public lands like most people.
I have seen him take a Grizzly, geese, turkey and deer all with longbow. The Grizzly was exciting as he had a couple of guns to protect in case the beer charged him. He's a great fisherman as well.
It's a pretty good show and he is a hoot. A little conceded but I think he has the results to back it up.
