I launched the boat this morning with Nick and Bill at 530. What a beautiful morning on the lake. We set 4 riggers and 2 leads off the boards. We had to work for them. By mid morning we had 2 Salmon and 1 Brown. The fish were being caught 45 to 55 off the riggers. No luck with the leads. So I switched one over to a dipsey diver(setting 3, back 150) and put it on a heavy release and sent it out on the board. This puts it way outside the spread. We put it out there and forget about it. When you least expect it, that rod fires. When the dipsey releases off the board the whole boat shakes. A release that is impossible to miss. It did not have long to wait today. It was out less than 5 minutes when a nice 20 inch Salmon took it. I normally run bigger lures on the dipsey. This is where the #3 bees worked well today. We finished the morning at 1030 with 4 Salmon and 2 Browns. All fish between 16 and 20 inches. No stockers today! All fish came in the boat with one or two lamprey on them. Lamprey appear to be out of control right now. I dropped off the guys and picked up my wife and brother in law for an afternoon cruise. The bite was very slow this afternoon. I did manage to hook up my proud gay brother in law with a his first Brown trout. Too bad he got fish blood on his brand new "sun dress"!!! He said it was worth it. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D It was Worth it for me too!! Enjoy the pics! Thorny

Good report. I've seen the #3 in the center in one of your other posts (although it may have been a #2). I'm going to get some tape because I'm quit sure I can make that pattern work for me at LG.

Thorny:
Sounds like a little more work! Nice pics! That mottled green with the fire red tape works just about anywhere in all 4 sizes.

Great report Rob and thanks for using the new reports area to post fishing reports. I like the dipsy story. Ask Pat sometimes about our dipsy experience with a large lure and a lost large fish off Hyde point on the 4C's last July. Makes me want to bring out the Meatball rod and a Dipsy rod soon. Just a great read and as always you can write a great report.

Salmoneye:
We all have hard habits to break! This is one of mine. I've tried an Orange stripe and a Pink stripe but just can't come up with the patience to keep them in the water, if I can get my hands on a red stripe ... but I am sure you are right!

Rob, entertaining post. Seemed like quite a mixed bag today, both fish and fisherman. Jon

Brian:
Salmoneye is right. You have to see them together to see the difference! Bright or Fire red is my hangup!
