Wednesday 7/15 Fished with Shannon from Barre. We launched at the Swanton Bridge at 5:45. This sounds like a broken record, but the NW wind was far greater than expected, limiting where we could go. We started at one of the humps on City Ledge. Caught 3 pike and one little SM. Then went south of N Hero Bridge in Alburg Passage. Fished grass with crankbait, spinnerbait, buzz bait, Carolina rig, and shaky-head jig. We caught several LM and plenty of pike. Fished humps near Cloak I in Lamotte Passage. Picked up a few small legal SM.
Water temp had dropped from 71 to 67 since my last trip.
Shannon caught a 2.5#LM that was 18". He also had a 7-8# pike at the boat that came loose. He tries to catch pike while I fish for bass.
I had 13 legal bass. Best fish was a 3.25# LM also 18".
Top five weight 9.5#.
Thursday 7/16 Launched at Swanton Bridge at 9:30 and ran to Alburg Passage. Heard thunder and ignored it. Got in 3 casts. Then heard loud boom too close for comfort. Put trolling motor away and got on plane. Rain started about halfway back to launch. Don't mind fishing in rain, but not T-storms.
Best fishing still to come.
Mike
