I'll pose this question to everyone...Cannon, Big Jon, Walker? I've fished primarily with Cannon and Big Jon and never had problems with either. No experience with any others, but I've always equipped my boats with Cannon. I have two Mag 5's and two manual long arms and if I had to do it again I would have gone with Mag10 electrics in place of the manuals but cost was the deciding factor.

I have tried all 3 and like them all. Right now I have 2 Cannon Mag 10's with 4' Big Jon Booms and 2 Big Jon electrics with 2' booms and a Walker with a 4' boom. Just bought the Cannons and have yet to decide witch riggers with make the final cut. Only have room for 4. I like them all, but think the Cannon with the Big Jon boom are the best. Best of both worlds. I can bounce bottom and like the way that the motors and controls are set-up in the Cannon's. Just my 2 cents though.

I have fished with all and owned Cannon, Walkers and Big Jons. I am now firmly planted with Big Jon. They are pretty much bullet proof in my opinion. Great for what I do and where I fish. I currently run 4 Pro Tourneys. Scotty makes a nice product as well and they fish nice. I just dont like the big bulky head on them and for teaching young new anglers they can almost seem too fast and intimidating. Like I said it is just my experience and opinion. Big Jon!

I have cannon Mag 10's. They are the only one's I've owned but have fished with Big Jons on other boats. I like the Controls of the mag 10's over the big jons but like the flexible booms of the big jons.

Hello
I have two cannon digi troll riggers and they have been great. These riggers are now 25 years old and still going.
It is getting close to time to replace them and am un decided what I will do. I had a couple of big jons years ago and loved them too.
Thanks Phil B

On my old boat I had 4 cannon mag 10A ll's. 2 with 6ft booms and 2 with 4ft booms. This boat I have 4 big jons with 4ft booms. I like both but the cannons win out because I like the 6 footers off the sides. When I bounce bottom with the big jons and make a turn the cables will get tangled sometimes, with the 6 footers I never had that problem. Also I love the auto stop on the cannons. My big jons don't have it.

I have fished with Walkers and now I have Cannons. I like them both, I think they are all ok, just a matter of what you are used to. I will say this for the Cannons though, I've had great luck with service at Fish 307.

i like the big jons, they are bullet proof, I also like the idea of switching booms cause the cannons do have a great short stop system and also are faster, however if I wait for my big jons to wear out Ill never get to switch, also, how do you mount big jon booms on a cannon rigger?

Sorry for posting this in the report forum as I forgot to switch to the general one. Kind of like putting my plug in the live well drain i guess.......

I have Penn manuals. Would rather have electric, but as far as manual, I've used Canon, Big Jon, and Penn and prefer the Penn by far. I'm only speaking for manuals, however.

I've used the scotties and the cannon mag 10s which I have now. I never had a problem with my scotties although I felt the head size could be an issue on some boats but still great riggers(and fast). My mag10s are nice and are really easy to use when you're fishing alone alot but I have had some small issues with my power connections. I will probably stay with cannons though.

I really like my Cannon Mag 10s for their functionality.
The power cord insulation has deteriorated to the point it is cracking and falling apart.
and
When one did not operate this spring after sitting unused in a shed for the better part of two summers I found the case half full of water. Dried it out good and it works fine again. I think my resealing job will hold up better then the factory job did.
These riggers were bought in June 03 and were used heavily through 06, stayed on the boat all summer and covered when not in use. Spent winters in the shed.

I will vote for the cannons as I have used them all and the cannons have held up the best as one of my electrics is 21 years old and still going strong, however I will agree with Mr Walleye that the big Jon booms on Cannons are the best of both worlds as one of my buddies did just that 15 years ago and he bounces all the time with no problems
