Tried some in line lake trolls today for the first time, gotta try some of the advice that was posted in the thread I put in the general discussion category. Anyways I was able to put a real nice laker in the boat today. It hit on the rigger without the lake troll but I think it was attracted by the blades and hit the lure on the rigger without anything but the spoon on it. The fish was the biggest laker I have ever boated - it was 12-13lbs, fat as could be and it only had one old lamprey scar that was barely noticeable.
Got give Tamiron's blanks and tapes another plug here. The fish hit a #3 hammered silver bee custom taped with his tapes - great products. The tape pattern was a layer of radiant silver for the base with a bright blue strip on the top edge and a bright yellow strip on the bottom edge, leaving the radiant silver showing in the center. This color combination has been doing pretty decent for me lately. The fish hit in 112ft of water with the rigger set at 115 with the spoon 15 ft from the ball. By the time I found this hump tonight I only had about an hour to fish it, will be back out there again to give it some more time and effort.

Commander:
Great job! It sounds like you have a new color combination. It sounds almost like a "blue dolphin" variation. Thats terrific! Thanks.

Hello Champlainfisher
Very nice fish great job.
You have to love the humps I have been running blades off my balls and keeping the lures 10-15 feet behind. This seems to be working.
I have not tried any of the lake trolls yet.
Thanks Phil B

CF - thanks for the report. If I have enough people in the boat I usually try to mix up my setup, including vertical blades, inline and clean. I'll admit that I don't like fighting the blades and the fish with inline but I've done pretty well with them.

I have started to use the Lake Trolls this year and love them. I have had great luck with them and there cheaper then a lot of the others.

Thanks guys it was intresting trying to fight the fish, drive the boat and keep the other rigger weight from getting hung up on the bottom as well. Of course the breeze was just enough to want to make the boat do circles. But after about 10 minutes of running around the boat like a fool I got the fish to the net. Gotta echo Razzle's comment in his report about getting a big laker off the bottom, this fish bulldogged me the whole way. With 50 ft of line still out the fish was straight down off the side of the boat.
