Maybe it was the banana eaten on the boat, maybe it was the #13 outing on the Digitroll for 2009, or maybe it is what it was. ;D Yes the fish won today. We basically fished the same water as last week on the Shaye D Wind from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. The only legal fish was in the 4-5 lb class with the thumper rod with an orange MP6 and a 10 oz. ball out 100 feet on the line counter. The fish started shaking pretty hard out 25 feet and the single #1 hook pulled. I should have let off on the drag but trolling 2.5 on the GPS and the no stretch 27 lb wire the hook tore out. My error. Mike landed a couple of fat stockies on his side. Very few marks today and bait unlike last week. Very calm conditions and it was tempting to fish lakers but we stayed with the salmon program. Thorny nearby switched over on Lakers near Phil's spot and did well with some nice fish. Way to go Rob and Bill! It was a great day to fish with no regrets. Great company and tried lots of stealth delivery systems today tweaking this and that. It was kind of an experiment day on the Digitroll. 6.5 gallon gas burn today and we covered a lot of water on plane as well. Best of luck to Mike fishing strippers on the Ocean next week. I am flying out to Lake Huron a week from Thursday to chase the big silvers on Friday a practice day and the one day tournament on Saturday August 1st out of Cheybogan with my Brother in a law's 20 ft Starcraft with a 115 hp E-Tec. Next report August 11th for Champlain. Thumper rod (middle rod) and Lazy C's on the hunt on the port side.

Long running joke here Dennis. ;D
Thanks Kevin. The King's average 7-8 lbs on Huron near the Mackinaw bridge that goes to the Upper Peninsula. We will be within site of that 5 mile bridge and running the edge of the shipping lanes.
A good fish is double digits and the winner is in the teens somewhere. They also have 5 places for the heaviest bag of fish for the day as well as places for 4 species by wtd. A lot of fun! Nothing like a shotgun start 8 hour derby for silvers!

Been targeting lakers lately myself on the main lake due to the lack of salmon. If there are some there they have severe lock jaw for me.

I would rather have the luxury ride on that 10 ft beam boat Don. The VW bug versus the Cadillac. ;D

Good luck at Huron this year. I'm sure you'll have a good time visiting family, fishing another Great Lake and trying to figure out the fish. Entering a fish in the tournament is just an extra bonus. Catch 'em.

Digitroll:
Glad to hear the Thumper fired ... but sorry about the drag! Done that at least one too many times myself.

R,
Good to see pictures of the vessel Digitroll. She is a dream boat rigged to fish. Good luck out west.

Ron and Mike It was nice seeing you on the water today. We got off the water from a very long day at 5. I think we saw just about every kind of weather you can have in the summer today. Good luck to both of you on your roadtrips!! Thorny
