Seeing Dylan's Boat was still at my son's place in Northfield I hooked up my buddy Bob's boat to try our luck on Harriman Reservoir in southern Vt. We were there last week & did OK on salmon but nothing of any size. We launched at the lower end & trolled in our favorite spots. We each caught 1 under sized salmon in 60 to 80ft of water but down only about 25ft. The salmon seem to be getting bigger & fatter this year. A friend got one over 18 inches & another person I know claims he got one even bigger. I hope it is a trend. After awhile without much luck we moved up the lake to a dog leg in the lake & worked the deep water drop off in front of a bay. There we began to have action. We picked up 5 additional salmon plus lost about 4. Bob lost one that jumped real well & looked to be about 18 inches. On the next pass through he again had a good fish on but this one stayed down and took out line. The fish came off without coming up. The hook & the wire going threw the lure were bent. When a boat came zipping by into the bay & back out again the hitting stopped. I had one lure at 45ft but all the fish came from the lures at 25ft. All fish hit the tazmanian devil in brown trout. Dylan's Boat is now home & I hope to try my luck again next week. Quabbin Reservoir is closed to private boats for a while because of a zebra mussel scare so until I can get back to Lake Champlain in October I will be hitting Harriman Reservoir. Jerry

Nice to hear a decent report coming from old Lake Whitingham. The water is still way up this year and VT route 9 is collapsing into it. Ha
