I decided today to go back to my roots and chunk lures from the banks. I find myself doing this quite frequently vs dragging the 12 footer out--it's a time deal for the most part. Anyhow caught some nice bass in the Missisquoi in swanton highlighted by this 3+ pounder. All on tubes. I use a 1/8 ounce jig head and I find that it keeps your tube down but keeps you from getting hung up as much. An old friend told me if you ain't getting them hung up you ain't doing it right. Color was mustard and I have to tell you having some good luck with the vemon brand tubes. I like the meaty profile and the soft feel of this brand. Got them at dicks for a reasonable price. Now keep in mind, not trying to plug companies as much as letting folks know what has been working for me.

Gotta love them smallies Bassdude. I like to take foam earplugs and soak 'em in scent and then insert 'em into the bigger 3" tubes and then texas rig 'em and fish 'em like a jerkbait. Loads of fun. ;D

Nice fish and has to be fun. Anytime you get into smallies, a good time is about a given.

BCinvt: I have to tell you that the river was not deep or uncommonly rapid. It almost seemed normal as if we haven't had a boatload of rain. Just a little more stained than usual I have a few more spots i'll be going to soon especially if it stays a little warmer Salmoneye-if you like smallies tubes are the way to go. I'm sure the other bassguys will agree

That's good to hear.I've fished the river quite a bit over the last 3 years, and have done pretty well there.Have you ever fished above the dam in Swanton?I've heard there's some really good fishing from the dam north.Just don't know if I could get in there with my boat.Anyone know how that access is off rt 7 just before you get into Swanton?
