Launched at Swanton Bridge at 7:30 on Tues 7/28. Nice day with water temp 73-74, but another windy day. I tried to fish McGregor Ledge but S wind caused waves to come over the bow so I went to Alburg Passage.
Caught 4 bass right away at N Hero Bridge. Then as I was coming around the pylon I was fishing three guys pulled up in a pontoon boat and threw the anchor right in front of my boat. They must have seen that I was catching fish. I asked the driver what the hell he was doing and he said that I should stay on my side of the pylon. There as a 20 mph wind so I was doing all I can to control my boat and not hit the pylon. I told him what he should do to himself and left the bridge.
Fishing was good in the Passage. Caught a 3.25# LM and a 3# SM. Spinnerbait and shaky-head jig w/Senko worked.
Later I fished some ledge N of the Passage and caught SM including 3.25# fish. Very rough water N of the Passage.
On my way back to the Passage there was a boat pulling two teenagers on tubes. The driver was looking at the kids and not where he was going. He started to come right at me so I broke off and yelled to watch where he was going. Then this same family tied their boat off to the pylon in the channel of the N Hero Bridge. The two teenagers and the father (I am assuming he was the father) jumped off the pylon near the channel while the mother sunbathed in the boat. Meanwhile the boat was drifting into the channel.
After I had put my boat on the trailer, this same family drove up to the launch. When they got out of the boat the first thing they did was to let their poodle crap 6" from the launch. Then, when the guy was backing his trailer down to the launch, apparently he almost ran over the dog and the dog ran under the dock. They thought this was the funniest thing that could happen.
I apologize for venting. Anyway I really did have a nice day on the water.
I had 16 legal bass, mostly LM but 2 SM 3# +.
Top 5 weight: 13.50# (getting closer). Percentage way below David Ortiz' batting average, but I swear I don't use performing enhancing drugs. Not sure what Ortiz tested positive for, but this whole thing is a mess. Ortiz seems like a class act.
