Bob took me out today to Rouses point. We launched at 0800 and the water temp was 75 degrees. The wind was up around 10-15 SW-W in the morning, but manageable. We started drifting from windmill point toward the bronze coast and came up with 25 fish for the day. All smallies and a couple of toothy critters to boot. Two Biggest were a 4.25 and a 3.50 smallie. All on the mighty senko 4 and 5 inch wacky and texas rigged. Around 2-2:30 pm the wind was what Bob explained as "unfavorable conditions" so we bagged it and went in. Overall a good day Thanks again Bob it was fun hope to do it again soon

I wasn't me (this time ;D) Bob!
Nice fish and a great day to be on the water. And yes, the smile is a good thing especially with fish like that.

Nice fish!
Thanks for the look...I still say I need to learn how to fish Bass...My experience is nil, and only covers a Texas Rig and using Slider Head hooks...

Bassdude with a nice smallie. We had a good day of fishing and enjoyed each others company. Planned on staying longer, but the wind just kept getting stronger as the day went on. So much for the 5-10 predicted by NOAA. Bob

Nice fish! Thanks for the look...I still say I need to learn how to fish Bass...My experience is nil, and only covers a Texas Rig and using Slider Head hooks... TX rigged worms, tubes, grubs will catch both LM and SM anywhere. Slider heads with 4" straight tail worms will too. Get some bullet weights in 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 and 3/8 oz. for your TX rigs. Use as much weight as it take to keep some contact with the bottom, but not so much that you're constantly snagging up. Slider heads tend to get bit in middle water column. They aren't really designed for bottom grubbing. Luke...use The Force.

Bob, the variance between predicted wind and actual wind has me baffled too. I use the Colchester Reef prediction from NOAA, then I use this website www.iwindsurf.com/ to see what actually happened, hour-by-hour. You don't need to register to use the site. Just select the region that you are interested in (VT-NH) then select the desired spot on Lake Champlain. Colchester Reef has the white flag. On Tuesday the persistent winds were close to 20 mph, far more than NOAA predicted. Mike

Mike, Thanks I'll add that site to my collection. Usually NOAA is the most accurate, but not too good lately. The last time I went to Rouses Point we got 18-20 instead of 5-10. Yesterday was the second time they were way off on a trip up there. Bob

Cool report guys, Thanks. I'm not a bass guy so I have to ask. Why so many rod/reel set ups? Are they all different? And if so--how?

Cool report guys, Thanks. I'm not a bass guy so I have to ask. Why so many rod/reel set ups? Are they all different? And if so--how? I could be a smart A$$ and answer- Because I can and yes. The fishing tackle industry has convinced us that we need to have technique specific equipment to maximize our fish catching abilities. One of the analogies that I have heard," Does Tiger Woods play with one club?" Spinning gear is essential for finesse techniques and casting gear where heavier lines and lures are needed. I could go into more detail, but it would most likely give you more info than you were seeking. I have 4 spinning set ups and 4 bait casting setups on the deck, as a norm. Of course, like any serious angler, I have more setups at home. ;D Bob
