Had to work hard for a fish today but that's okay. It's still a riot.
Should have hit the water earlier than I did, but that's okay too.
I get up plenty early during the week for work.
Launched at Apple tree and set up right away, we were set up and fishing at 8:10, headed North in about 80' of water. We covered the water column with spoons running from 30 to 60. Set up a variety with 5 colors of lead with 2 oz added, riggers w/stacker, and rigger w/sliding cheater. One rigger had a lake troll attached to the ball and the main rod on that side had a "0" Luhr Jenson Dodger 24" in front of the lure.
The dodger set up fired twice, one short and one plump 17" legal. Both fish hit a copper/orange Hi-tech. Both fish came from between 50 and 60 down, dodger running 15' behind the ball.
The stacked rod didn't fire all day, regardless of what I tried--just no takers.
On the other side of the boat was the lead and the rigger with a sliding cheater.
The lead had a nice hit that didn't stick--oh well. That was a #2 needlefish, brown trout.
The rigger on that side fired twice-first hit was on a gold/copper honeybee on the main line. Result was a shortie. 43' down, tight to the ball.
The next hit was on the cheater. A nice fatty, just shy of 20" carrying a lamprey. Lamprey was sent back as two. This fish hit the cheater which was at about 23' down, very high in the column and it hit on a #3 needlefish, copper/huckleberry muffin.
We kept both keepers--One hits the pan tomorrow, the other has been properly vac packed.
The 20 was a female full of Roe with one smelt in the belly. The belly of the 17 was empty.
Talked briefly to Marknfish, thanks for the shout Mark.
