Going to the Cape for a week the first weekend in Sept this year. I have gone for the last few years and my buddy and I have been successful with jigs on the bottom with steel line. We usually launch at Dennis and fish Billingsgate Shoal up to P-town and back. Following the tide. We throw out a spreader or eel rig with sand worms for snappers. Leadcore line is what we have been using for this rig.
Wanted to know if anyone has been fishing the Cape lately and what patterns have been working. Any info would be appreciated Thanks

I was just down there 2 weeks ago and we smashed them using steel line with brown and black jigs in 25-35' of water. There were lots of bait fish on the surface and some people were hooking up using eels but they were also catching alot of blues. We caught the larger fish jigging the bottom with steel line. Good luck when you go... They were also catching a few nice tuna but we did not hook up on any due to the calm water.

Excellent I've had good luck using red jigs 3-4 oz in weight. Also white and red/white mix.
Have you had any luck using swimbaits?

I was down on the Cape 3 weeks ago today. Got stung by a jellyfish, and still dealing with the on-going discomfort. Didn't get to fish, but will be fishing with a bunch of friends next weekend for stripers on a charter. We'll be out of , not the Cape.
I'll try and remember to post back here what we use for bait, and our results.
