I fished Westport with my father from 9:15 until 5:00. We had a great time catching shakers all day long. Plain silver seemed to be the best color for us. I kept the lower lines at 60' down and 35' back. The stacked rods were about 40' down nd 10' back. About 80% of the fish were on the lower rods.
We trolled from the lighthouse headed south and seemed to fish spradic hits everywere we trolled. I didn't see any clouds of baitlfish suspended like I did the weekend before last.
I am hoping eventually I will land a salmon of keeper size! I guess I need to just keep with it and give it time.

You'll hit bigger fish sooner or later. Keep at it and continue having fun, that's what it's all about!

The shakers will disappear in a month or so, and then everything will be fat and minimum of 18 inches...
That's my story, and I am sticking to it...

Yes, I agree with Salmoneye, eventually the shakers just seem to fade away. In the late Fall/early Winter (Frostibite season, I can hardly wait) you barelysee em which is nice. Keep at it.

That's what makes it so fun. I love the chase and figuring out what the little buggers are doing from day to day. Keep at it and like everyone says here, the big ones will come.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am going to stick at it! I have a long weekend free in the middle of September where I am conteplating coming back up for 3 days. Someone told me not to waste my time then. They said the salmon are all in the creeks and none are in the lake. Is this true?
If so then I will be back at the end of October and again in November once or twice. That is if I can stay out of the tree stand long enough to fish.

If you can stay out of the woods in Oct/Nov--Champlain is the place to be!

If you can stay out of the woods in Oct/Nov--Champlain is the place to be! But if you like the 'swamps' and open water in October, you can have some of the best 'first light' Ducks over a few decoys, and still be boating Salmon by 8AM... Another place where utility boats shine... ;D
