Brother came up to fish for the first time on Champlain. Got a late start, launched at 8:00am. Wind was blowing out of the south so there were white caps and mud slick reached almost to the Ti ferry.
Bass count for the day - Zippo. (Brother got a 5" but that don't count). Fished north in the weeds with clear water with Senko and SB with no luck. Several colors tried with no luck. Lot's of tournaments so maybe the area got worked over before we got there. Wind made hard to fish the holes as we were drifting pretty fast.
Gave up on bass and went w/live bait and caught a few pan fish but again, wind made it tough to anchor or detect a hit with a pencil bobber. By 12:30 we had enough and went for a boat ride. Was a beautiful day for that anyway. It was fun to get out with my brother and he says he will come up again. He wants to take me float fishing on the Battenkill for trout so might give that a try.
We were off the water by 1:30 or so. Needed to do the yard work anyway so it kind of worked out. Was a nice day to have a cold beer on the hot deck after getting the work done. Will try again hopefully in a couple weeks.
Hope others did better.

I fished the Ti event on Saturday. We went a bit north to get into cleaner water and had a good day. Had a limit in 20 minutes and culled all day, (although we needed to cull a little more). Probably put 30 LM in the boat and several pike, (one 10+) and a bunch of pics. Everyone I talked to that fished the dirty water said the bite was tough.

Hey at least you got out. My daughter wanted to go to Franklin County Field Days, as we always do. My wife's been down with a bad back, so I got the nod to take my daughter Sat. As you know Sun. was a wind out, wash out. Get 'em next time. Bob

I bet. Morning was OK but the wind came up and it was pouring something wicked (big surprise this year) when I left just before noon. I wouldn't have wanted to be out in that.

The crazy amount of rain last week did not help your fishing trip. Thanks for the report. At least you got up to the camp. For a weekend without woes. p.s. If the 5"er was a bass it counts! How else do you think you hear about "100 bass days".

I don't count them under 12".
When people have those huge number days - 100 fish - do they use something to keep count?? Once I get over 6 or 7 I am usually having enough fun to make me forget about counting.

I repeat out loud- 6-7-8 etc. During FLW I wrote everyone down. Damn, when you get old, you need help sometimes. Bob

If I caught over 20 I would need some one else to use their toes and fingers.

Yeah, once you get up to 15 -20 the numbers become a little more of an estimate and less of an exact count. I mean, on those days when you get 10 -15 one and a half to two pound foot balls you kind of lump them together and just count the bigger ones. Sure would have liked to have one of those days last weekend. Oh well, good luck to everyone getting out this weekend.
