Hi Scott,
I will be up at Henry's on the week of the 18th. Usually we have to run all over the Lake to find the smallies. Are there any patterns that you have noticed. We fish alburg pass, lappans, city ledge, Mc Greggor's butler island. I hear the water is in the mid 50's. I would suspect they would come up and move in to the rocks to load up on craw and perch before the spawn. What temps do you see the smallies spawn on the lake. Are there any locations you know of where to look at certian water temps. I know where to look to find them thats easy. But when and where. We will be there for 5 days and we usually take a couple of days to find them. Do they hang in the deep water currents with the walleye. I know you have had alot of time on the lake and now the patterns any insite would be appreciated.
Thanks again ;D ;D

I'm in the all season derby every year and in May bass aren't eligible to be weighed in so I have never fished for them at this time of the year. For what its worth, if I were going to fish for smallmouth on the 18th I would head to McGregor Pt. (a good spawning area) and look for them in shallow water. I do know that they swarm into the Missisquoi river in May because I catch a lot of them while fishing for catfish and walleyes with nightcrawlers. By mid June they seem to be gone. I don't know if they come into the river to spawn or to feed off the walleye eggs/fry but there are definitely a lot of them in the river in May.
