Has anyone fished The Gut this time of year? I would think the warmer water might bring in bass and pike.

I have a camp in the gut and fish there from early June through September. I catch a fair amount of largemouth bass in the weed beds on the both sides. Near the causeway on the west you will find larger bass as the water warms in about 6-8 feet of water. Also toward the east near the drawbridge you will find good size bass. I fish bass at dusk and dawn and northerns during non-peak times anywhere in the gut. It's weedy, so I have good luck with crank baits that you can control the lure depth with your reeling speed.
