You're fishing in one of the good areas of the lake for salmon. From here on out it will be mainly downrigger fishing,,,,the planners work better early in the spring. Speed is very important! When fishing with spoons you can go anywhere from 1-4mph. I like to fish dodgers and flies and you need to go SLOW with them...less than 2mph. Depth can be anywhere from the surface down to 80 feet....look for balls of baitfish on your fishfinder and try to run your lures through and just over them....good luck!

hey littleguy, pick yourself up some vertical flashers fo your riggers(Dattillios has them). This really helps as an added attractor. When you first head out, spend a few minutes cruising, and watch your depthfinder. Look for pods of bait, or concentrations of fish. Start off at around 2.5 mph, and try faster or slower if nothing happens. You can also try running a cheater on each rigger. Just take about a 4ft length of mono, and tie a snap swivel to each end. After you set your riggers, with the main line, clip one end of the line to a spoon, and clip the other directly to your line. It will ride down, roughly halfway to where you have your ball set. Its a good way to get more lures in the water. If you read my other posts, I have caught all of my salmon this spring on blue and silver (mooselooks, crocodiles, needlefish). The water has warmed up quite a bit, so you will probably find them a little deeper now, but they will be higher up early. Hope this helps a little, let me know how you do............
