I'll be heading up to the Burlington area in late July to do some kayak fishing with my small cousin. I take hime along in the yak and we've had a blast in the past. He's old enough to hit some bigger stuff now. I've heard that the northern part of Champlain on the VT side is excellent. It's also a very large region. I'm looking for some help in access points that are reasonable to good smallie waters. Thanks.

Malletts bay would be a good place to go. There is a nice launch there. You can fish around the rocky shorelines for smallies or go to the back of the bay for largemouth. There is a small river at the back of the bay that you could go into for largemouth. I have also seen Longnose Gar in that river which are fun to catch.

You can also try the Route 2 sandbar area on the Islands access route. I just stopped there on the way to and from Montreal and caught several nice sized LMB--fishing from shore.
There is an access area/launch on the east end of the causeway--giving access to the southern side of the causeway.
