I am surprised to see the doe permits are available with two months of winter still to go. If the department decides to give out only a few permits in a zone shouldn't the people applying be aware of that? What if they don't want to give out any in a zone? Will they refund our money? Seems like the department is getting way ahead of themselves and money is more important than the deer heard or the hunters money! Also talked to Ed Gallo about this and seems everyone is scratching there head.

If the head count is correct on our deer herd i can,t see how they can sell off thousands of permits for the remaining 2 deer we have left! Hopefully there is a buck and a doe remaining so there is the possibility of having a third live deeer this summer!

VERMONT HAS NO DEER and too keep shooting does will make it like fishing in a emtpy fish tank . If you keep taking and don't put back make vermont buck only for five years or so and you will see the deer herd come back.

I agree about the buck only. The state wants the money and until they can find another funding source, it will be on the backs of hunters and fisherman. Time to tax the kayakers and bird watchers.

With all due respect to everyones opinion....I am content paying the lions share and baring most of the financial burden, AS LONG AS the canoers, kayakers, hikers, bird watchers, etc. have a say in policy that affects us that is equal to their financial contribution. In other words, I prefer that a bird watcher's opinion on grouse hunting not be held to the same level as a bird hunter simply because someone like Rep Dean came up with a bird conservation stamp as a way to collect money. I would glady pay twice the fee for a license to insure a mountain biker group is not taken seriously when they push to have property they ride in closed to hunting. Etc, etc, etc....

yes, I've go to agree with you,Gary,on that one.I read somewhere that bikers got a trail in the Green Mountain National Forest, I think it was near Middlebury. God forbid we might get a ATV trail somewhere, but they can have bicycle trails
