I'll be in the Point au Roche area next week and would like to know where the salmon can be found.

You might try going south from Point Au Roche to Cumberland Head. Fish the area around the ferry passage. No need to get near the docks though, the smelt are schooling in the deeper water. They're near the surface in the evening as we witnessed a few nights ago. There were bigger fish rising out there too. Try setting riggers from 15 to 30 feet. If you graph large pods of bait troll through the schools. A few passes by Gravely Point on the north end of the Head is also a good idea. There's a lot of water out there and only a few salmon, so be patient. For more salmon and laker info check us out at LakeChamplainAngler.com! Here's a pic to make your heart rate go up. It's an atlantic salmon caught in Ireland. Not sure what the deal is with that spot on his britches. May your lines shake violently! Mick

Pulled a 31 1/2" laker from the lake 2/17. It weighed just shy of 9#. One lamprey mark that was healed over. The fish is swimming again. It was in 6 - 8 feat of water 18" off the bottom and was taken on a 4" emerald shiner. Been catching quite a few smelt is the shallow water also. This was in Crown Point about 3 miles south of the bridge.
