Digitroll,
Did you hear anything about a 28 pound laker caught on the Niagra bar yesterday?

I am really enjoying these posts. Although I have never fished the O' I did go out last year for a charter but got blown out with 8'+ over the seawall outside Oswego and couldn't get out.
Anyway, lovin' the fish tales. Go ahead and grab one of them 30#ers.

Ron,
Glad to hear the black beads are working. Did you run the one with the glow bead? Did it work if you did?
How is the motor running? Did the trolling RPM's level out?
Good luck, catch a monster.
Don

Day 4 Thursday: Sorry for this late report. Got off the water at 4:30 pm today. 10 hours on the water! Winds were expected today to be 10-20 from the West and gusting to 30 mph! Late forecast after my post yesterday. Well, we rode out in 1-2's thinking this is ok at 6:00 am. It later flattened out to 1 foot or less. Beautiful conditions to fish today! Sunny and dry! We started out slow out of the gate and lost a screamer around 11:00 am off the rigger. The highlight of the day was a screamer that took the rod down to the water out of the release right of the rigger and burned half the reel and the lure came free. Oops! We missed many fish today out of the release and ended up with 2 Kings, 1 Atlantic, and one Iron head. Boat traffic is picking up and with the weekend coming up and the derby ending Sunday the push will be on. Water temps up to 48 degrees and the spoon bite has been the major story like last year. My wire dipsies have been stone cold and caught the first fish this week today. I have restrung two rods with braid to fish tomorrow with my dipsies. The wire bite has been tough for many in the skinny water. Braid on dipsies has been the key. The PA guys on either side of us where we are staying put a king and a steelhead on the board near the same water we were all working. There are some fish there it just takes patience and some tweeking to turn on of these big guys. We all went out to dinner tonight and it was a blast. Don the rpm's vary about +/- 10 rpms but not anything significant to change my trolling speeds on the GPS. The motor is running flawless this week with 35 hours on the engine here at the Bar. Scott: The Oak is quite a ways East for us to make that trip. Wilson and Olcott are struggling with the stained water still from the Niagara flowing East. Canadien water has been the ticket for us and others. Reggie, I will say hi from team MF for you to Ken and Brian (The Outfitter) and Hey Jude the other boat from Pa. Tomorrow is the last day and a great day for weather again! There is a 27 lb Laker leading the grand prize of $12,500, but don't know about a 28 lb fish caught today. I cant believe the high water stuff coming from Vermont when we call home. Thanks, Ron

Last day Friday: Again the wind gods were mistaken. South west 10-20 mph turned out 1 foot most of the day! It was a stellar day for us going 8 for 11 on Kings (all kings today). The fish have moved in and we were marking them consistently in 50 feet of water 30-45 feet down. Lots of sharks! And Lazy C's like Scott said pulled one out of the bag to weigh in a high 20 lb King for 8th place currently! Our buddies from PA pulled a hog from the same water Lazy C's and we were all sharing in Canadien water all week. It was 25 lbs 1 oz and is leading the salmon category! I will post a photo of it when I get back (just incredible). We had our chances today and finished strong with a nice catch. The great news was my restrung braid dipsy rods took two of the fish today. The wire ones sat idle today. Our Kings were all 8 to 13 lbs this week nothing huge but a lot of fun. Darien our iron head and atlantic were skippers. A great week and the mag lures were hot in black and purple mostly michigan stingers trolled faster than usual. The rigger bite dominated the catch for us. We had a good time and can't wait to go back next year with what learned this year. We learn something every year and it's fun to keep learning with great friendships here at the Bar. Good luck Lazy C's / Hey Jude / The Outfitter who have 4 fish on the board this year heading into the weekend and the end of the derby. Not bad company to share on the water and drill it down. I will post a few photos and a 1 minute video shot today of our scenary and a big freighter going by. We hit the road tomorrow early. Thanks for everyone's response's and encouragement this week. Ron / Ken / Don
