Well.... Its been a rough season but it got done. In NY nonetheless! In the RAIN!!! After having many close encounters in VT(thanks to the love hate use of the decoy) leading up to me blasting a Jake yesterday am just to have it fly away after a few of what I thought were death flops.... grrrrr..... I had to make a quick trip to farm in NY. Figured I had to make the most out of my premium priced license... woke up to the sound of rain showers and headed out after hearing of a few nice birds that have been seen in the area. About 5:40am I called this hog in. Down the ridge he came followed by 2 jakes. He was all about the hen - jake decoy setup I reluctantly put out. Came right on over and strutted his stuff right in that hen decoys face. 9in beard... 1in spurs... 21lbs.... His tail is all beat to hell.... Musta been a fighter!

Nice job , way to stick with it, turkey hunting is very tough, I got one bird so far and missed one other and rolled a big tom over and he got to his feet and took off never to be seen again. I have had so many close calls this season but seem to get hand cuffed all the time. I guess thats why turkey hunting is such a challenge. good job and good luck buckshot

Thanks! It is challenging. I cant believe how tough they really are. Fun though.. except the bugs are getting pretty vicious now.... ;D

oh ya those bugs suck this time of year, the other day had a big gobbler in front of me and had to let a black fly just chew the hell out of my eye lid, Ouch! then missed the bird.
