Nice ;D Just makes you wonder if the hunters from Vermont will follow the benoits back to their home state to bag a nice one There was a nice article recently about the QDM area in the catskill region of NY and they are having great success. Turns out I have a spot there this year

Thanks guys, Id love to wrap my hands around his horns. My brother and I have chased him around the woods for the last three years. Maybe this will be the year. I'm just getting back into bow hunting and taking this Deer would be one hell of a way to start again. He seem to go nocturnal right around early October so I feel bow season is really my best shot at getting him.

Nice buck, but there were plenty of big boys around without a foolish spike horn law! my 2 cents. come look at my wall!

You're right there were some fair deer around before the law. I have an uncle that lives in Stampford and there always has been some very nice deer down that way. Around here is a different story. Most of the deer checked in before the law were Spikes, 3's and 4's with a few fair 6's and 8's mixed in. Now we are seeing many more of the 6's and big 8's solely because they get another year to grow.
If you are a "trophy hunter" why dose this affect you? Seem to me the only guys it really affects are the ones that just want to shoot a deer for meat and could care less about the head gear. Not trying to start a pissing match just curious why you are against it.

Best of luck to you. He got that big from not being stupid thats for sure. He probably sits and watches you as you walk 10 feet away from him! LOL Nightwalker as soon as the cool breezes flow for certain. I despise the spike law since I dislike to see all the genetically superior 4s and 6s being weighed in. Yet again.. Im a meat hunter so I will shoot whatever walks in front of me (except a spike.. unless im in NY).

I am no trophy hunter, I am a tracker , given the opportunity I will take a big bucks track over a little buck. But the first one to step into the sights gets dropped. I may let a spike go or a three pointer on opening day but when it comes down to it I just like to shoot a healthy buck be it a spike or a ten pointer. People put way to much emphasis on antlers now adays. I think it gives our younger hunters a bad start to the hunting world. All those trophy hunting shows and all the hoopla and every hunting accessory under the sun. you pack all that crap with ha you can't even get up the mountain. Some of us have been taught how to hunt these VT ridges and thats where the big bucks live and they will always be there and they were there before. I hunt stamford , woodford , somerset, readsboro, whitingham , and wilmington. Come on down and hunt some big woods bucks.

I could not agree more. Ben is spot on.
The only difference between us is I perfer to take my walks in the wood in the NEK. It is actually much tougher in his neck of the woods. The mountains are steeper.
