So the first few days all I accomplished was to get soaked.... Now that the weather has turned all the preseason effort has started to pay off. Wednesday night I missed a Turkey, then had a nice little spike come in. Right at the last minute before shooting light was gone I put a shot on a 1 1/2 y.o. doe and she never made it out of the field. Tonight I was back at it with the same group of turkeys right under my stand but this time I didn't bother to shoot, instead I just watched them interact with the 200 Geese out in the cut corn field. Then at 5:30 I had a Doe come out 20 yards and offered a great shot. I couldn't resist knowing that I still could harvest a buck or another Doe if I chose. Long story short I just dropped her off at the butcher and now I have plenty of fresh Vennie for the long winter ahead.

VTG - congrats as there's nothing more satisfying than a full freezer. How did you do during early goose season?

You are right, it is a good feeling.
To be honest I was so wound up about deer hunting this year I never made it out to hunt geese early season. Now that I have been sucessful with the bow Ill be out in a layout blind just as soon as the late season opens.

Sounds good! Work has kept me out of the field and off the water for close to two months. Looking to end that streak soon...
