Six fishing days at Olcott, May 2-6, the Kings were hot on spinneys and flys. Here is a typical one. Two of us fishing, we landed 17 kings down 60 ft over 100-180 bottom and many coho's near the surface. Ran just two rods for kings. The lake was perfectly flat three of the days. fishable all days. Gotta admit Olcott (newfane) harbor caters to fishermen....good bar....super fish cleaning station...no crowding, good lodging rates. Did not see any law enforcement, no town police, no game wardens, no state patrols, no coast guard, nobody boarding your boat. No parking tickets. Very peaceful. Only saw Border patrol eating donuts. Wish the authorities could act like this at Burlington harbor. Fish on. MikeP

Sleeps, right it felt good to hit the mother load with those kings. I think its my fifth time out there and finally got super weather and super catches. We battled the kings with light tackle spinning rods and 16 pound test....great fun. staying outside the pack made us able to stop the boat and fish for them like we do here in Vermont. Only lost one due to broken tackle.
Last spring we fished for browns at Oswego and at little salmon and reeled in a lot of mighty fine browns , most of which dwarf what we get at Champlain. Nevertheless, I'm trying to adapt to smaller fish on Champlain.....and be Happy...its a struggle.
there is something magical about watching a fish strip off line , I had to find out what it took to land the big ones. Now I am thinking about your native lake the great willoughby.

Nice report MikeP - I have been hooked on Lake Ontario for the past few years and just got done chasing browns and walleye all spring. It is tough to leave that place and now face fishing the Eastern Adirondack lakes for a few weeks is actually a little depressing!!! Keep up the good work out there!!!
