Made the trek to Pulaski again and just got home. The river was like 2 different fisheries the past 2 days. Friday I was fishing by 7:30 am and fish until about 3:30ish. I ended up going 4 for 8 on steelies with the biggest being a nice silver hen about 7-8 lbs, landed a nice silver male about the same size along with a couple of skippers. I also missed a few fish. The trick was to cover alot of water. There were plenty of fish but also plenty of water to spread them out. The fish were a little fussier this time on the color of the egg sacs. Peach and light blue got most of the hits. The 2 bigger fish were taken on pink pearl berkley trout worms. Trout breads were also taking alot of fish. I have not fished much with the trout beads, but I am going to start.
Today the fish just didn't want anything to do with me. I got soaking wet, changed went back out and only managed to have 2 fish on. Not many fish on the lines today. I did get my 2 hookups on a pink berkely trout worm. The trout beads were hot today, my friend that guides client's did a dozen fish on a tough day today - all but one was on beads. No hits on egg sacs at all today other then about a dozen fall fish. The crowds for this time of year was unreal - people everywhere. It's steelhead season and I'm not used to seeing so many people.
Plenty of fish in the river - well worth a trip out. The fish are scattered top to bottom of the river. The fish were moving good the last couple of days. Most of my fish came in some of the faster tailouts just as the drift would start to pick off the bottom.
