It was kind of like an expose'.. I'm thinking that the LCI is going to have fewer players next year. Changing the rules via " Fine print " leaves a sour taste in the mouths of those who expected and deserved more. When the price to sign up gets higher and the payout gets smaller, it kinda makes you wonder.. BB

I read the rules and re-read the rules and consider myself to be fairly educated. The way those rules were written was as clear as mud and I would bet that was the intention of the LCI to keep anglers registering and fishing. I've tried to stay "positive" because the last thing I want is to sound ungrateful for winning $9600 (NOT over 10k as stated on the news), however the whole thing is a bunch of bull Sh!t. Roger was very accurate when he was talking about what a BIG deal the LCI has made about how much money they've given away in previous years. I realized they changed the way prizes were given out, I realized there was now a lottery, what was VERY unclear were the prizes sponsored by radio stations. Aka the WOKO Big Station Salmon that was $30,000... What the hell was that even for? I love fishing Lake Champlain, and the time that we are able to spend on the water with family and friends is priceless, however, I'm not sure that I would fish the "LCI" again unless there are MAJOR changes in the structure of it's leading members. If the boys want to fish it for father's day, I'm there, but as a driver only... The LCI is very shady and when you try to get any answers you get a run around. So again, I'm not ungrateful for what I won, however it was very disappointing when you look at what that same fish would have won last year. The only thing I got from the LCI itself that acknowledged the beautiful fish I caught was a trophy that has the salmon's weight on it (obviously it had to be made special, so would it have been that much more money to at least put MY name and the date the fish was caught on it?) All of this bull about what the prizes were and should have been have taken away from the fact that my family and I caught a really amazing fish and I honestly feel like the LCI didn't give a rats a$$ that we caught it... So there it is... My $.02 (Sorry I'd put more then that in... but... well you know... I got shafted!)

Thanks for letting us know about the report.
I have had many a person read the LCI rules. Many say the states attorney should be contacted.
Yeah we all signed the rules, but the way it read was very unclear. The lottery was BS too!
What the LCI needs is someone who knows how to run a fishing tourney. It doesn't have to be all about cash, and I know the LCI isn't just about a tourney.
I am announcing that the 2011 LCI was my last. I will still fish with my family that weekend and let the kids sign up as Juniors if they want. I will NOT fund their salaries anymore. I'll give my entry funds to the VT F&W.
Jim Elhers has little remorse on the feelings of participants,LAME -O JIM! and the money raised for this organization is from us the participants, supporters and sponsors and will probably decrease dramatically from the comments he made.
It time for a good house cleaning in that office!
Very, Very Disappointed!

I also have heard that many sponsors that paid for ads in the LCI gazette (that was not published this year) did not get their ads in and did not get their money returned either, Norm's bait and tackle is one of them to the tune of $200, and he ain't happy. I thought Jim Ehlers demeanor on the TV news segment was both arrogant and condescending, he could have cared less what the fishermen thought.

I don't fish the derby but have followed this saga for what seems like forever. Fishinmachine -I totally gathered that opinion of him in that interview as well.

Typical arrogant attitude by the Director (AKA God). Smoke and mirrors for sure. One has to ask, If the advertisers were not informed that the Gazette was not to be printed, why? If ordered a $5.00 milk shake and was delivered glass of water, I would be asking questions. I smell change in the air and welcome it!!

I saw it this morning... I can't beleive Jim E is that smug in the interview... He sure isn't selling LCI tickets with his comments... It seems they think they can do anything they want and still hold the LCI... Amazing... I would expect entries to drop as much as 50% from all this, it is amazing to see they simply don't seem to care at all...
I am impressed that trackertroller and Sugarpie are being as candid as they are. They speak very much sense in comments and have given the LCI more than a chance to clear things up before they posted comments... That tells me a lot about the state of the LCI right now...
Awfully sad... [glow=red,2,300]How do we boot the LCI off the lake and give some real conservation org a chance to make it work... [/glow]There is a need. The LCI folks just aren't the right people to do it anymore....

Matt I dont think there will be a need to boot them off the lake!! If they keep going in the same direction that there heading they will do it to them selves !!! Its to bad because so many people look forward to this event every year!!! But as they say nothing lasts forever!!! Sleeps

What is sad is there was a time before James that the LCI was about the FISH! and not about how much MONEY! the people running it could put in there pockets IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE.

That news clip says one thing. LCI is about the money with the adamant statement in regards to the "expected money" of "O well!!!!"

i missed the interview (but will watch it) and might have my info crossed BUT doesn't the guy that owns/runs the LCI have stake in the Outdoors magazine ? if so its going through bankruptcy like the rumors say , that to me would explain why the prizes would less this year...even if its not morally right but i could be way off on my info , it s just what i heard and pieced together ...anyone know if i m even close to accurate with reliable info ?
