Went 6 for 8 Friday trolling the 200 ft line east to west down 100, largest 22 pounds. Lost a screamer on the 450 copper with dodger and meat rig with MC Rocket. Very few boats and nice weather.
Went 2 for 4 on Saturday, largest 28 pounds. Lost a screamer first thing on a wire dipsey with flasher meat rig. The temp had come way up overnight and we trolled bath water for too long before seeking better temps. Found good temp 150 down over 550 east of West Nine Mile. Not long after setting up a rigger fires and Whitey had a good battle with a 28 pound king! His first time on the lake and he had a ball! Not long after that and we land a mid teens. Another release with nobody home but the telltale sign of a hit on the MC Rocket. Called a friend when we found fish and he motored down and his young son landed his first king! Hated to leave but we had to head home to beat the storm.
I really like the BTI Smurf SUV Mamba/twinkie meat rig/MC Rocket combo. I could not get real meat to fire, the Rockets did all the damage. The aluminum strip in them lets you control the roll, they glow and there is no mess.
Always a good time out there. Can't wait to get back! Ice Dawg heard me on the radio and gave a shout out from Mexico Bay, sounded like he was doing pretty good over there.
My picture posting skills are weak but I posted 2 below. Notice no boats in the background! One of Mike Ringers crew counted 147 boats around them over in Mexico. It is fantastic fishing over there but it gets a little stressful in the pack sometimes!
See you on the pond!
