Thought I would give this a shot before I go out and spend a bunch of money.! Do any of you guys out there have a spare Encore barrel, in a caliber suitable for a small framed 12 yr old? This will be his first year hunting, and his dad does'nt hunt. I will be taking him out on youth weekend, and during the regular season, but I hate to invest a ton of money until I know he is going to stick with it. I have an Encore M/L, but my other rifles are to big for him, at least for this year. I would be willing to do some kind of swap, or rental?? Thanks!!!

Randy, just a thought but how about putting a 4pwr scope on a .410 same ballistics as the 45-70 government lot of kids have broke in this way and the signal shot is pretty inexpensive.Just an idea good luck.

I'd love to help, but don't have any Encore barrels at all, and nothing that I would consider 'light' fare for a 'youth'...
Hell...My kid went from .22 to 12 gauge almost overnight at the age of 12...

Randy, I have a 30-06 barrel for an encore that your more than welcome to borrow, may be too big. Also if you come up empty handed I do have a youth model 7mm-08 with a scope that I may be willing to lend you. -nn

Thanks for the offers guys, but I went ahead and ordered a 7mm-08 barrel for my encore. You can never have too much stuff, right? I really appreciate it

Too bad you aren't looking for a youth setup for a Contender as I bought a youth stock and .17mM barrel in hopes my daughter would enjoy it. I'd let both go reasonably cheap, but you would still need a Contender reciever
