Hey, Fished out of Westport launch(I live just a few miles away) yesterday. Lots of small salmon 12-14 inches anywhere from 30 to 60 feet down using red/evil eye spoon in rainbow pattern, but most hit a purple, black and white streamer(my own design) behind a dodger. Anyone having any luck keying on larger fish? I saw the LakeChamplain Angler vehicle in the parking lot. Any luck yesterday with larger fish?

I had similar results over on the other side out of button bay over the weekend. I did not pick up a thing larger than 14" in that particular area either with the exception of a couple lake trout and a fat chunky brown trout. Saw plenty of schools of bait fish too in water ranging from 80 to 120' deep. I think that may have been what was keeping the fish in the area.

coonmtman, You are the first person I have seen to mention evil eyes. These were my go to spoon for years for lakers. Know I have a bunch of honeybees and stingers I run most but I still will throw a evil eye in the mix most days. Last year the red and white was hot. Scott

darnet, I've only got back to lake fishing a few weeks ago-purchased a new boat so I'm back on the main lake. Some years back with an old Evinrude inboard/outboard I shared with my father was when I started using the evil eye trolling spoons and had great luck with them. Black with a purple stripe worked well as did(and still does) a hammered copper evileye. The last picked up a couple of lakers in 10 minutes north of the Boquet River a few weeks ago. This year I couldn't find them in stores or in Cabelas so I went to the Eppinger website and placed an order. They sent a couple of nice catalogs with all their products along with all their color schemes.

Scott, thanks for taking the time and effort to put up the pictures. I appreciate it.
Interesting lure, I don't think I've run across any of them before. I see why they are called evil eye.
Thanks again.

10 or so years ago we had great success on lakers with the black/purple and firetiger models. We used to troll on a 45 degree angle from slightly above Champlain Marina over to the NY side and always did very well. I have not used them much since then as I have an appetite for HB's now.
