Eye-- Nice job. That's a huge laker. I'm willing to be if it's not a new lake record it ranks real close. I'm thinking you should have hit a certified scales with it. Very very nice. Thanks for the look.
Good to hear you got into some salmon also, and managed a legal one.
Had the shakes with that laker huh? I had the shakes with that incidental bug-eye I got in May. I've found myself getting the shakes with big fish, more so than I did deer hunting when I was a kid. Gotta love it.

I'm assuming by the Adipose fin clip and the length, that this fish was stocked in 1990, a year before the big LCI fish.

NIce Laker eye'....need to take some time and try taping up some of those lures. Certainly seems to be the go to lure for you. Had good luck yesterday with copper & chart stinger & chrome mooselock, one with blue on it and one with yellow.
Were you running any blades or flashers??

Great fish Salmoneye! Its awesome when a fish gives you the shakes like that. And very commendable releasing that TOAD to hopefully gain some more weight. Can you imagine that same fish in 5 years after gorging itself with Smelt and Alewives. Scary . Great job.

Were you running any blades or flashers?? I had a hammered silver Dave Davis (I forget the style #) attached to the ball... It consists of four #7 Colorado blades...I polished it with 0000 Steel Wool this week, taped it with some strips of Tamiron Light Green, and Silver sequin tapes, and then clear coated with Krylon to keep the metal from dulling again... As the lakers hit the slider, I am not sure if it played any roll...

That is a really nice fish. Congradulations. This may give you an idea how big it was. My son & I got a big laker on Quabbin Reservoir a couple of years ago. It was exactly 34 inches long. On a state certified scale it weighed 15 lbs 13 oz. As fat as the fish are this year in Lake Champlain yours could be bigger. Like you we tried to put it back but couldn't revive it. We only had 6lb leader so it got well worn out before we could net it.

Never got a hit down there, like you most of our fish came off the cheaters. On wed. we got two lakers on the lowest spoon above the blades. Every day is different!!
